Sorry for the lack of updates! I've been busy and when I had free time, I was spending it chatting with people in my group.
On Thursday, it was a travel day. We had to take yet another detour (our fourth of this trip - I think a road was blocked) so it added an hour to the travel time.
We arrived at the Terraza de Pacifico Hotel Resort in the early afternoon. This hotel is literally on the beach - you just walk out a few feet and then you're standing on sand staring at the Pacific Ocean. It was very relaxing, and I spent much of the afternoon walking on the sand.
Yesterday, we had a breakfast, took the lunches that the hotel had packed for us, and hopped on the bus for a rendezvous to the Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio. It is a small national park on the Central Pacific Coast.
After getting off the bus, we had to walk about half a mile to the beach. En route, we saw many animals - a mother three-toed sloth and her baby, squirrel monkeys, and iguanas. Once arriving at the beach, many of us wasted no time getting in the water and swimming. The water was FANTASTIC. On the beach, there are many animals that go around and begging, much like seagulls in the States. We had several raccoons bothering us all day, but they were quickly chased away every time. We also had a few iguanas hanging around.
The funniest thing happened - I was eating my lunch and finished my sandwich so I tossed the plastic wrap to a classmate to put in the trash next to her. I missed, and the wrap landed just a couple feet from Ashley, so she picked it up and threw it away. However, the iguana thought it was food and got even closer. Another classmate, Christina, was sleeping so Clara woke her up to tell her to look at the iguana.
Christina, not thinking, got excited and held out her hand. The iguana ran forward and bit her. Christina screaming obviously startled the iguana, so she wasn't seriously hurt. However, I was so jealous because that's about the coolest thing to get bitten by. I've been giggling about this all day and evening.
It started to thunder, so we came back to the hotel to relax. After we had dinner, a few classmates wanted to try Costa Rican pizza so they went out and got some. I had a couple of slices - it was good, but nothing special. I'm sure some places are phenomenal, but this was a little restaurant in Jaco,
Today, we are leaving to return to San Jose. I fly back to the States in less than twelve hours. It's bittersweet - I'm excited to go back to home to see my pony who has been patiently waiting for me, but I also don't want to leave Costa Rica.

Hey Gina... I have set up the DVR to record the Belmont in case someone special wins. But you'll have to come home to see it!
