It's over for me.
Three years.
Eighteen months of planning.
Three committees.
Four(ish?) positions.
Two schools.
400 miles.
Three weekends.
One trophy.
My last Brickfest ever as a student was yesterday.
Signing up for the committee on a whim on that day in 2012, receiving a position, and working through the academic year, I got bitten by the Brickfest Bug. I loved the collaboration and our efforts to ensure that a safe weekend was had by all.
Because of the Brickfest Bug, I joined again last year to plan for the Rockfest event, and then interviewed for Chairperson for this year.
Wonder of wonders, I got it.
It has been a crazy, topsy-turvy, trying seven months. We ran into crises. We resolved them, and we moved forward.
And Brickfest was on Friday and Saturday.
I worked on building a relationship which I am hoping will turn into a beautiful friendship with the event chairperson of Gallaudet University. I established networks with members of Gallaudet's Student Body Government. I learned an incredible amount about dealing with issues that arose, and comfortably and accurately resolving a good number of situations.
I have seesawed between feeling like I was the worst chairperson in the history of Brickfest/Rockfest, to the best.
Last night, as I sat with some Gallaudet committee members, some of my own committee, and the advisors, I realized something.
When I became Chairperson, I had a few goals.

When I became Chairperson, I had a few goals.
- Establish a relationship with my counterpart at Gallaudet University.
- Ensure that everything went as planned.
- Collaborate.
Sitting on the floor of Ritter, I realized something. I have accomplished every one of my goals. Some of them were rather lofty, but I accomplished them.
Whatever the community's opinion of me, I feel like I succeeded in making this Brickfest as successful as possible. We did everything right, we followed up with all the right people, we pushed for collaboration. I don't know if I was the best Chairperson ever, but I don't think I was the worst ever either.
And I am proud. I am so incredibly proud.
I don't even know how to put it in words.
My tenure may be over (or nearly over). But Brickfest and Rockfest will always be a part of me. I have learned so much in such a short time, I have met with so many different people, and I have established lasting friendships.
This is a good way to end my six years at RIT.
Clap...clap...clap.. I m proud of you!! Good Work!
